IN THE CALENDAR OF KAUNAS STATE CHOIR – DENMARK

On March 29, in Denmark, in Odense Concert Hall Kaunas State Choir led by professor Petras Bingelis will gladden admirers of Richard Wagner’s music by performing one of the most impressive pieces by this composer – a mystery play “Parsifal”.

The second act of the opera that is written only for female voices will sound in the concert. “Parsifal” is the last opera written by R. Wagner. In its libretto written on the ground of the epic poem of a medieval poet Wolfram von Eschenbach a romance and Christian legends intertwine. The action of the opera transforms the listener to the medieval Spain, the Pyrenees. The premiere of the opera took place in 1882. The excerpts of this piece sounded as well in Lithuania: the public of Vilnius did not scrimp plaudits for Kaunas State Coir that performed parts from the first and the third act of the opera “Parsifal”.

Denmark where the choir was invited by a conductor Aleksandr Vedernikov the choir is visiting and delivering concert for the first time. Maestro belongs to the younger generation of the elite of the Russian conductors. In year 2001-2009 he was the head of the Great Theatre in Moscow, the principal conductor of the above mentioned theatre. Since December 3, 2009 he is a principal conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra of Odense and is as well invited to deliver concerts in the concert halls of other countries and the most famous opera houses in the world, such as “La Scala” in Milan, opera-houses of Rome, Bologna, Torino, Venice, Paris. A. Vedernikov has as well delivered a concert together with Kaunas State Choir in the Congress Palace in Vilnius.

A prominent Danish tenor famous for performing operas by R. Wagner – Stig Fogh that has sung in the Metropoliten Opera in New York and many famous stages in Europe will sing during the concert together with Kaunas State Choir. The singers will be accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of Odense under the baton of A. Vedernikov. Tickets to the both concerts that will take place in the Odense Concert Hall, accommodating 1212 person, are already sold.  The concert in which Kaunas state choir will sing is going to be broadcasted by Danish Radio and Television.

The choir received as well more invitations to deliver concerts in the prestigious concert halls of the world this year.

The choir will leave for Denmark after having performed “Requiem” by G. Verdi together with Violeta Urmana in Lithuania. After returning from the concert tour in Denmark, in spring for the callers of Kaunas State Philharmonic the choir will perform “Mass f-moll” by A. Bruckner (under the baton of Jean Michel-Blanchon, France), “Stabat Mater” by A. Dvorak (under the baton of Kaspar Zehnder, Switzerland). Meanwhile in the concert dedicated to the closing of the concert season of State Symphonic Orchestra of Lithuania that will take place in the Congress Palace in Vilnius a monumental “War Requiem” by B. Britten will sound in the performance of Kaunas State Choir.
